The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
