The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
