The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
