The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
