Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 Eventually, they summoned their companion, and he undertook the (outrageous) task and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How [terrible] were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
