Thamud denied the warning 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 Lot warned them against Our torment, but they persistently disputed it. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
