[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
