The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
