The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
