The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Behold, We sent a single Blast against them, and they became like the trampled twigs of a sheep pen-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
