Thamud denied the warning 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
