The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Behold, We sent a single Blast against them, and they became like the trampled twigs of a sheep pen-builder. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
