Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warnings. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
