The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Verily We, We sent upon them one shout, and they became as the stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
