Samood rejected the warning. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
