Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We loosed against them a squall of pebbles except the folk of Lot; We delivered them at the dawn -- 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
