The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
