Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
