(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder. 31 Surely We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
