Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
