The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
