Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 Taste then My torment and My warnings. 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
