The Pharaoh and his people had also received Our warning, 41 they, too, gave the lie to all Our messages: and thereupon We took them to task as only the Almighty, who determines all things, can take to task. 42 Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nuh (Noah), Lout (Lot), Salih (Saleh), and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), etc., who were destroyed]? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures? 43 Or say they: We are a host victorious? 44 (Let them know that) this united group will soon run away in defeat. 45 Nay, but the Hour is their tryst, and the Hour is very calamitous and bitter. 46 Indeed, the criminals are in error and madness. 47 On that Day they will be dragged into the fire faces foremost, (and told:) "Taste the feel of Hell." 48 Surely We have created everything in measure. 49 And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye. 50 We did indeed destroy many like you. Is there, then, any who will heed? 51 All things they do are (recorded) in the books; 52 everything large or small, is duly inscribed. 53 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers, 54 in a secure abode, in the presence of the Powerful King. 55
