The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 has created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon are scheduled. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
