The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The All-merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
