The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created the human 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
