The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created the human being 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
