The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
