The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Quran. 2 has created man, 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
