The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
