The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
