The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He has created man: 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
