The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He hath created man. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
