The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created the human being 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
