The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
