The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He hath created man. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
