The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The All-merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He has created man: 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
