The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 Created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
