The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
