The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
