The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created the human 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He set down the earth for the creation. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
