The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 has created man, 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
