The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He hath created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
