The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man, 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 and between them is a barrier which they do not overpass. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
