The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Most Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon are in a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
