The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Created man, 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He has created man out of sounding clay, like pottery, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
