The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
