The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human being 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
