The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
