The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
